Sad news: The famous comedian and actor passed away today at his home

Many people loved comedian and actor Martin Mull. He has died at the age of 80, according to his family.
Maggie Mull, Mull’s daughter, shared the sad news on Instagram, explaining that her father passed away at home “after a courageous battle with a long illness.”

“He was known for excelling in every creative discipline imaginable and also for doing commercials for Red Roof Inn,” she told us.

“That joke made him laugh. He was always funny. My dad will be greatly missed by his friends, colleagues, fellow artists, comedians, musicians, and most of all, many, many dogs. He will also be greatly missed by his wife and daughter. I loved him very much.”

He also starred as private investigator Gene Parmesean on the series Arrested Development.
Mull was nominated for his first and only Emmy in 2016 for his role as Bob Bradley on Veep.
Mull worked many different jobs throughout his career. For example, he worked with Fred Willard to write the mockumentary The History of White People in America in 1985.

He loved writing songs and making people laugh. In the early 1970s, country music star Jane Morgan recorded her song A Girl Named Johnny Cash, a parody of A Boy Named Sue.
The song spent five weeks on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.
