The tenors were halfway through their beautiful live rendition of Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” when the crowd began to applaud. Behind them, their musical idol, Celine Dion, was on stage, but they didn’t notice it yet. She walks behind them, lined up in a cap, in their line, giving them the shock of their lives. Little did they know that Celine would also join them for the second verse in an epic live collaboration with breathtaking harmonies.

There is no more experienced singing group than the Canadian Tenors. They have made numerous television appearances, including the Emmy Awards, the Vancouver Winter Olympics and Windsor Castle, where they performed for the Queen. It would have taken a lot to surprise them in 2010, but Oprah pulled it off.

Although she had never met any of the group, she had heard that they were all huge Celine Dion fans. They invited famous Canadian singer Leonard Cohen to join them on stage as they sang their greatest song, Hallelujah, on his show.

You wonder if the group is up to something when this kind of thing happens during concerts. It’s not going to happen! Their expressions of disbelief are priceless when Celine appears. After a moment of disbelief, they resume singing, their expressions betraying pure joy. Celine is so gifted that she effortlessly pulls off the role without any preparation, and their voices harmonize beautifully. It’s an absolutely remarkable performance.
